Invisible, so no one can tell you are straightening your teeth. You can smile as much as you want during and after the treatment. You can still floss or brush your teeth as needed.

Removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment, plus brushing and flossing are no problem.

Comfortable, because no metal is used during treatment. This means you will not experience sore spots. Also, the aligners are comfortable for the TMJ (jaw joints) and often headaches are eliminated. There are no wires or metal involved, so you can spend more time showing off your new, straight teeth and less time in the doctor’s office!

How It Works

  • The set of aligners are worn for about two weeks and are removed only to floss and brush.
  • Your teeth move a little every week as you replace the aligners with the next set in the series until they are straightened out to the position prescribed by your orthodontist.
  • Every 6 weeks, you will visit the orthodontist to make sure that your treatment is advancing as planned and to get your next aligners.
  • Usually, the treatment lasts anywhere from 12 to 18 months. Also, the average number of aligners that are worn while the treatment is ongoing is somewhere between 18 and 30. However, both of these differ depending upon the difficulty of the case.
  • Some minor problems can be treated with Invisalign Express (trademark) in less than 10 months.
  • Dr. Perkins also offers Invisalign Teen (trademark) which is treatment designed for the cooperative teenager.

Patient Stories about Invisalign®

Daniel:

“My teeth were very crooked when I was a child. I don’t remember too much about being teased then but as I went through my teenage years I became more self conscious of how my teeth looked. I began to try to hide my teeth. I practiced smaller smiles in the mirror. I didn’t want braces because I thought it would also bring unwanted attention to my teeth. In my 20’s and early 30’s I received more and more attention to my teeth. One time in college I was studying at a lounge area and a group of girls sat behind me. They were talking about the things they looked for in men. As they went through their lists I thought I faired pretty well but before I got up to go over to them to present myself and say “Here I am” (just kidding) they all agreed that a man must have straight teeth. Children would point at me and shout “Vampire!”. I thought I needed to get in the sunlight more but they were pointing at my teeth. They would say things like “He has fangs!”. Some of my teeth were twisted so much that from certain angles they did look like fangs. I was so embarrassed. I felt unwanted and like I didn’t fit in.

I saw an advertisement for Invisalign on T.V. and started setting appointments for consultations. I searched the internet for orthodontists in my area who were experienced in using Invisalign. Some orthodontists talked about how they may need to pull some of my teeth and that I may need oral surgery to cut sections of my jaw bone. I wasn’t too thrilled about that. My brothers and parents and I had been praying about finding the right orthodontist. Then I met Dr. Perkins. He was very professional in the way he handled my teeth. He and his staff are very personable and they really cared about me. Dr. Perkins recognized how difficult my case would be but he was willing to try just using Invisalign knowing that was what I wanted. After 50 upper trays and 72 lower trays I had straight teeth. Dr. Perkins came up with some innovative ways of trimming the trays and using buttons and rubber bands to pull certain teeth into alignment. Now when I talk to people the only time they look at my teeth is to say “Wow! Your teeth look great.” I smile with confidence now. I chew my food better. I have much less headaches. Children don’t run away screaming…maybe I’m exaggerating a little. I have less occurrence of cavities because I can clean my teeth better since they aren’t so crowded. I don’t get so many sores in my mouth from where my crooked teeth had been rubbing. I’ve been asked by many people about my straight teeth and I’m happy to tell them about how Dr. Perkins used Invisaligh to make my life better.”

Margaret:

“I got to the point where I was smiling with my mouth closed, but now that my treatment is almost finished with Dr. Perkins and Invisalign, I feel quite confident to smile showing my teeth!”

Brian:

“I met with about six other orthodontists, but when I met Dr. Perkins, the choice was obvious. I loved the experience that Dr. Perkins and his staff had achieved in orthodontics, and they were all so friendly.”

Linda:

“My dentist highly recommended Dr. Perkins and Invisalign to me when he saw my apprehension with braces.”
